The normal routine for the last few years at CUMC is to weather the drought of giving and attendance at church during the summer and then come out begging in the fall for everyone to give extra and make up for how far we are behind in bills and apportionments. This summer at Centenary UMC I believe God is calling us to make it a Summer of Giving!
This summer the focus will be on increasing our giving during the months of June, July and August from approximately $24,000 last summer to $37,000 for the summer of 2015. This is a 54% increase over last summer and would keep us up to date on all bills and apportionments through the summer months. This would mean that there would no letter or phone call drive to beg people for extra funds this fall!
The emphasis will be threefold: 1) giving each week whether you attend worship or not; 2) starting somewhere by giving some set amount each week with the goal of eventually achieving a tithe (10% of your net income), and 3) giving through our United Methodist connection to support the Imagine No Malaria Campaign to help fight the spread of Malaria to children throughout the continent of Africa throughout this month of May.
There are several pages of information in this newsletter about all three of the emphasis points, and my prayer is that all of you, every member and friend of Centenary UMC, will prayerfully read each article and prayerfully discern the amount God, not you or anyone else, but that God is calling to you to give each week this summer to reach our goal of $37,000 for the Summer of Giving 2015 as well as to have a direct effect on the lives of children in Africa through your support of the Imagine No Malaria mission collection this May.
God bless you for your prayers and your financial support of CUMC this summer and for being inspired to save lives in Africa through the Imagine No Malaria Campaign this month of May 2015.
In Christ, PJ
