We are in the literal heat of summer and it is understandable for folks in Wisconsin to be hitching up boats, loading up cars and heading out to destinations where they can enjoy this beautiful summer weather we have been blessed with. Everyone is entitled to a vacation and some time off to relax so I pray that all of you have found time to enjoy this wonderful season in Wisconsin before it turns cold again.
I would also like to encourage everyone not to forget about God and to not forget about Centenary UMC while you are gone. God is omnipresent which means everywhere you go God is. So be sure to take time to talk to Him, to read His words, sing to Him and thank Him for all the blessings of this summer season. Make every attempt to grow in your loving relationship with him while you have time to during vacations.
May I encourage you to attend worship when in town this summer and to participate in church events. Please also remember that even when folks are gone on vacation the work and ministry of the church continues.
May I also strongly encourage you to keep track of your giving to the church? The summer is the harshest season on church finances and the ability for Centenary UMC to continue to help the poor, carry on ministries and pay its bills. If you miss a couple weekends please do not forget to make those personal weekend offerings up when you return. The church counts on that money to not only pay the electric bill but to fund upcoming church programming this fall.
Lord God, bless us all as your beloved sons and daughters and as a church here at Centenary UMC. May our hearts and our church be warm an as filled with the Holy Spirit as these warm summer days and the sunlight within. Thank you God for summer, for Your Son Jesus Christ, Your Holy Spirit and for all of us and all the blessings of being part of your church at Centenary UMC.
